1. Who we are
Breuzel ("we", "us", "our") is a Mac application and website at breuzel.com. Our contact address is hello@breuzel.com.
2. What we collect and why
Account data: When you create a Breuzel account, we collect your email address, encrypted password hash, and subscription status. This is necessary to provide the service.
Session usage data: After each dictation, we log to your Supabase account: session duration, word count, cost in USD, and the name of the target application (e.g., "Gmail"). We do NOT log raw audio, raw transcripts, or the text that was injected.
Billing data: Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID, not your card details.
Website analytics: We may use privacy-respecting analytics (no cookies, no cross-site tracking) to understand general traffic patterns.
3. What we NEVER collect
- ✗Your Groq API key — it is stored in macOS Keychain only, never transmitted to Breuzel
- ✗Your raw audio recordings — cleared from memory within 5 seconds, never written to disk
- ✗The actual text of your transcripts — only word count and session stats
- ✗Your location or device identifiers beyond what is technically necessary
4. BYOK architecture and third-party data flows
When you dictate, this is what happens:
- Your microphone captures audio on your Mac (local only)
- Your Groq API key is retrieved from macOS Keychain (never leaves your device)
- Audio is sent directly from your Mac to Groq's servers using your key
- Groq returns a transcript — this never passes through Breuzel servers
- Claude Haiku (Anthropic) optionally post-processes the text — this is sent via Anthropic's API
- The clean text is injected into your active app
- Usage stats (duration, word count, cost) are logged to your Supabase account asynchronously
Groq and Anthropic have their own privacy policies which apply to the data sent to their APIs. We recommend reviewing them at groq.com/privacy and anthropic.com/privacy.
5. Data storage and security
Account and session data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data. All data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.3. Backups are encrypted at rest.
Your macOS Keychain entries are protected by your Mac's secure enclave (on Apple Silicon) or Secure Boot (on Intel), and require your Mac's login credentials to access.
6. Data retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all your personal data within 30 days. Session logs can be deleted from your dashboard at any time.
7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@breuzel.com. We will respond within 30 days. For GDPR purposes, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
8. Cookies
The Breuzel website uses only technically necessary cookies (session management). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
9. Changes to this policy
We will notify you via email and in-app notice of any material changes to this policy at least 14 days before they take effect.
